Aviation still has a lot of military people in the top management. This means they expect:

Take note of the last bullet point you will never make more than £30000 in the middle management positions in the UK. Know this because it will save you a painful divorce and cost you a lot more than £30000. Once you have Aviation in the blood you can never work at anything else and relationships will suffer that is an absolute guarantee.
If this has not put you off then you only have yourself to blame.

The best option is to go straight in at the top and bypass years of being down trod and waiting for dead man’s shoes.

The most satisfying job and the top earner is Flight Dispatch. Unfortunately you have to invest money in training but once trained it will last you for your whole career.

Flight Dispatchers sign jointly with the Captain of aircraft to conduct it within the laws and with the utmost focus on Safety. This means the Dispatcher must understand meteorology, theory of flight, performance, aircraft systems. In fact you are a pilot but you don’t fly. Many Dispatcher also have a PPL and complete the ground school to have a really good base understanding.

This can be done by attending proper schools in the USA or there are a few distance learning courses which I have had the good fortune to be part of.
